A lorry and the boda boda collided, causing chaos as the coffin fell open, drawing widespread attention from residents.
“The body of the deceased, which was being transported to Malava, Kakamega county, has been taken back to the mortuary after the motorcycle carrying it was involved in an accident. The coffin carrying the body fell and broke badly, reportedly leaving the body severely damaged,” a post read.

Several photos of the incident went viral, capturing the horrific scene as residents tried to salvage what they could by patching up the coffin and placing the body back inside.
Despite being tied together with ropes, the coffin was extensively damaged and was barely repairable at the scene, forcing onlookers to seek alternative means of transport.
The body, which was covered with a white sheet, was later loaded onto a lorry as the family struggled to process what had happened.
Photos also showed the extent of the damage to the coffin, with the upper section too badly damaged to be repaired by the roadside.
