A new mother is over the moon after welcoming her bouncing baby boy and becoming officially engaged to the love of her life on the same day.

Takeaslynn Gardner, in a heartwarming Facebook post, recounted how her fiancé planned a surprise proposal that turned into an unforgettable delivery room moment.
Surprise proposal plans take unexpected turn
She explained that her partner, Dorryen Johnson, the father of her baby boy, had planned a surprise engagement dinner for Saturday, as she was scheduled to have her labour induced the following Monday.

However, during her final hospital appointment on Wednesday, doctors informed her that the baby needed to be delivered immediately.

“My man had a surprise engagement dinner planned for Saturday since I was supposed to be induced on Monday. But at my appointment that Wednesday, the doctor told me we had to have the baby now. We literally only had about two hours to go home, grab our stuff, and check into the hospital,” she said.
She headed to the hospital that same day and spent the night there. By 4 pm the following afternoon, she was fully dilated and ready to welcome her baby.
How did Johnson propose in delivery room?
Just moments before she began pushing, Johnson surprised everyone in the delivery room by asking the doctors to pause for a moment.
He then pulled out a ring, got down on one knee and proposed to his beautiful fiancée just minutes before the birth of their son.
“Right before I was about to start pushing, Dorryen told the doctor to hold on… he had to give me something! I was so confused at first because what do you mean? Like I’m literally about to push a whole baby out and you’re talking about some ‘hold on’,” she recalled.
“Before we bring a baby into this world, will you marry me?” Johnson asked.
The emotional mum said it was her partner’s priority to have a ring on her finger before their baby arrived, adding that June 11, 2026, would always hold a special place in her heart.

Takeaslynn also revealed that Johnson was her high school sweetheart and expressed her deep love and appreciation for him.
“I love you so much! I’m so grateful for you. My whole life has changed since we reconnected! You made my pregnancy the best experience ever. I literally didn’t have any bad days! I’m so excited… Mrs Johnson-to-be,” she said.
In a light-hearted conclusion, the happy new mum jokingly encouraged women to give their high school ex-boyfriends a second chance and see where it leads.
