Person dies after trains collide on Munich bridge, sending carriages tumbling to street below

A person has died after two cargo trains collided on a bridge in Munich in the early hours of Saturday.

Local police said that two of the carriages derailed and crashed into the street below.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, a police spokesperson in the southern German city said.

Emergency services were alerted to the collision in Munich’s northern district of Milbertshofen at 1.40am, with about 60 first responders dispatched to the scene, a fire department spokesperson said.
