Police Arrest Three Suspects in Enugu, Recover Guns and Suspected Drugs

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested three suspects believed to be involved in armed robbery, kidnapping, and drug trafficking, in a series of coordinated intelligence-led operations across Enugu State.

The Command also recovered firearms, ammunition, and suspected illicit substances during the raids.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, the arrests were carried out by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following actionable intelligence.

In the first operation on May 30, officers arrested two suspects identified as Ogbonna Chinonso, 22, and Nnachi Cypril, 35, at a drinking spot along the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway. The suspects are alleged to be linked to armed robbery and kidnapping activities.

Recovered from them were a locally fabricated revolver pistol, a cut-to-size double-barrelled gun, six rounds of 9mm ammunition, and one live cartridge.

In a separate raid the same day, police operatives stormed a hideout at Trans-Ekulu in Enugu, where they arrested a suspected drug dealer, Izunna Ani, 36. Substances suspected to be “Loud” and “Kolos” were reportedly recovered from the location.

The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the operatives for the successful operations and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and sustained clampdown on criminal networks across the state.

He also urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies, assuring that all suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
