The results were approved and released after the successful conclusion of the 2026 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, on Thursday.
Speaking during the meeting, the Chairperson of the Award Committee, Folake David, who is the Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination and the processes that led to the timely release of the results.

Meanwhile, the Award Committee approved July 22 and 23, 2026, as the dates for the BECE re-sit examination in Mathematics and English Studies.
NECO explained that the re-sit examination is meant for candidates with conditional deficiencies in Mathematics, English Studies, or both subjects.
The Council said the exercise would give affected candidates an opportunity to remedy their deficiencies and obtain the required certification for admission and placement into Senior Secondary School One, SSS I, without repeating an entire academic session.
NECO reaffirmed its commitment to credible assessment standards and to ensuring that eligible candidates are given the opportunity to progress in their academic pursuits.
