In various operations throughout the state, the Yobe State Police Command has detained eight people on suspicion of stealing, physical assault, and drug-related offenses.
As part of continuous efforts to combat criminal activity, the command stated that the arrests were made by agents in the local government areas of Bursari, Damaturu, and Nguru.
In a statement released on Wednesday, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Police Public Relations Officer, revealed this.
According to Abdulkarim, the operations also resulted in the recovery of stolen goods, such as displays and a motorcycle.
The statement claims that Musa Musa, a 25-year-old suspect, was detained by Garin Alkali Division agents for allegedly stealing building supplies intended for the renovation of Daskum Primary School in Bursari LGA.
According to Abdulkarim, the suspect was apprehended while carrying stolen goods from the school grounds, including iron rods, along Gashua Road.
He continued by saying that an accomplice named Alhaji escaped the scene and is still at large, while a black TVS motorcycle purportedly used in the crime was found.
The statement said, “The suspect has been charged to court, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other persons linked to the case.”
In a another incident, two individuals were detained by A Division agents in Damaturu: Adam Maigaimu, 20, and Mohammed Umar, 18, following a violent clash involving an axe.
