Woman Who Allegedly Brutalized 10-Year-Old Boy Cries Out as Anambra Government Takes Her Infant Away

The Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has intervened in a disturbing child abuse case in Awada, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, where a 10-year-old boy was allegedly physically abused by a woman in a viral video that sparked widespread outrage online.

Following the circulation of the video, officials of the Ministry reportedly moved into the community and rescued the 10-year-old boy, who was taken into protective custody for safety, medical attention, and further investigation into the alleged abuse.

In the same intervention, authorities also reportedly took custody of the woman’s 10-month-old baby over concerns regarding the overall welfare and safety of the child within the same household environment.

The Ministry is said to have placed both the 10-year-old boy and the 10-month-old baby under protective care while investigations continue to determine the appropriate long-term arrangements in line with child protection laws.

Officials maintained that the intervention was necessary to ensure the immediate safety of both minors, especially given the severity of the viral video and the concerns raised by the public.

In a developing twist, the woman involved has reportedly been pleading with authorities not to take her 10-month-old baby away from her, insisting that she should be allowed to keep custody despite the ongoing intervention.

However, social welfare officials have maintained that the priority remains the safety and wellbeing of both children while investigations are ongoing.
