Asaba Content Creator ‘Odogwu Asaba’ Remanded Over Death of Nursing Student Following Alleged gRape

Popular Asaba-based content creator, ‘Odogwu Asaba’, has been remanded at the Ekpan Police Station in Effurun, Delta State, following the death of a Nigerian nursing student, Favour Agbro, who allegedly died by suicide after she was reportedly raped.

Favour, a 20-year-old from Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, had reportedly contacted the 44-year-old content creator after he advertised a training programme on how to monetise Facebook and TikTok accounts. According to activists, she travelled to Asaba after he promised to help her build a career as a content creator.

It was alleged that upon her arrival, the suspect lured her to a hotel room where he allegedly sexually assaulted her despite her making it clear that she was a virgin and had no interest in any relationship. Activists claimed she sustained injuries during the alleged assault before returning to Warri, where she informed her family and twin sister about what had happened.

The reports further alleged that after struggling to get help and justice, Favour later died by suicide.

Human rights activists Harrison Gwamnishu and Israel Joe had earlier disclosed that the suspect was arrested by the police. Fresh reports now indicate that he has been remanded at Ekpan Police Station while investigations into the case continue.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many Nigerians demanding a thorough investigation and justice for the deceased.
