The Federal Government has announced a ₦1 billion MSMEs funding initiative targeted at supporting 100 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises as part of efforts to stimulate economic growth and innovation across key sectors.
This was disclosed in a post shared on Monday via X (formerly Twitter) by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Centre, which highlighted the programme as a strategic move to empower enterprises and drive sustainable development.
According to …, applications for the funding programme will open on April 7, 2026, while the deadline for submission is May 7, 2026. Successful applicants are expected to be unveiled on June 27, 2026, coinciding with the World MSME Day.
The initiative, which will see shortlisted businesses share a total grant of ₦1 billion, is designed to provide financial support to promising enterprises, enabling them to scale operations, create jobs and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economy.
The media centre, in its message, emphasised the importance of enterprise development in national growth, stating, “Driving growth, empowering enterprise. The opportunity is here. This is how growth is built.”
Analysts say the programme could provide a much-needed boost for small businesses grappling with funding constraints, particularly in a challenging economic environment.
The Federal Government has in recent times rolled out several interventions aimed at strengthening the MSME sector, which remains a critical driver of employment and economic activity in Nigeria.
