Spanish La Liga has condemned threats and intimidation directed at Sevilla FC players and directors following the club’s latest defeat.

Sevilla slipped to a third straight Spanish La Liga loss on Sunday, April 5, after a 1-0 defeat away to Real Oviedo, who sit bottom of the league table with just 24 points in 30 games.

Tensions boiled over when a group of supporters confronted Sevilla’s players and coaching crew at the airport on their return, hurling insults, while others wearing masks gathered at the club’s training ground.

La Liga said the behaviour “unacceptably crosses the line of legitimate criticism and sporting expression”.

The governing body confirmed it will report the incident to Spanish authorities and promised further action if similar scenes are repeated. Earlier this season, supporters attempted to force their way into the training ground to challenge the players.

“Anyone who crosses the line from criticism into threats, intimidation, or harassment stops acting as a fan and starts acting as a violent individual,” La Liga said. “And against violent individuals, La Liga acts and will act.”

Sevilla are winless in five Spanish La Liga matches and sit 17th, only two points above the relegation zone with eight games left in the season.
