The suspended Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, Adamu Bako, has formally resigned his membership of the party.
Bako announced his exit in a letter dated April 15, 2026, addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Agyaga, Akwanga Local Government Area.
NOP NIGERIA reports that in the letter, the former chairman described his resignation as a painful but unavoidable step.
He stated that the move was taken in the interest of peace, his personal safety, and the need to align with a political platform that reflects his leadership principles.
Bako explained that his decision would enable him to move forward politically alongside his supporters and mentees.
According to him, the new direction would provide a structure that better aligns with his vision and aspirations.
Despite his resignation, Bako said he had remained loyal to the PDP for many years, noting that he once held the party in high regard.
He described it as a platform he valued and defended until the final moments of his membership.
His resignation comes shortly after his suspension by the party over allegations of gross misconduct and anti-party activities.
The development is seen as the latest twist in the internal crisis rocking the PDP in Nasarawa State.
