Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully repelled an attack by suspected terrorists in Garin Hillo Village, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
NOP NIGERIA reports that the incident was disclosed in a post on Sunday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.
According to the report, the attack occurred in the early hours of April 17 when troops of the 8 Division, stationed at a Forward Operating Base in Gatawa, received intelligence on terrorist activities in the area.
“The troops quickly moved to the location, where they encountered the attackers and engaged them in a gun battle. The terrorists were eventually forced to retreat under pressure from the military,” Makama stated.
Further details revealed that about 30 armed assailants invaded the village on foot, firing sporadically and causing panic among residents.
The sudden attack forced villagers to flee for safety as the sound of gunfire echoed across the community.
As a result of the assault, six civilians sustained injuries. The victims were evacuated to the General Hospital in Sabon Birni, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Following the incident, troops have maintained a strong presence in the area, conducting patrols to prevent further attacks and reassure residents.
