A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Tolulope Philips, has reaffirmed his ambition to contest the party’s ticket for the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Philips, who spoke with journalists in Abeokuta on Monday, dismissed speculations suggesting he had withdrawn from the race, insisting that he remains fully committed to the contest.

The aspirant disclosed that he had already purchased the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms, stressing that he was prepared to participate in the forthcoming primary election.

“I have already purchased the APC expression of interest and nomination form for this ticket. I am the best man for the job, and I am fully prepared to contest,” he said.

He also confirmed his readiness for the party’s direct primary slated for May 18, 2026, expressing confidence in his chances at the polls.

Philips called on party members and supporters across the constituency to mobilise support for his aspiration, noting that his ambition was driven by a desire to provide quality and effective representation.

“This is a project to give Abeokuta South quality representation. I’m calling on all my supporters to come out en masse and support this movement,” he added.

He reiterated his commitment to delivering impactful representation if elected, promising to prioritise the welfare and development of constituents.
