FBI Arrests Former Senior CIA Official After Alleged Discovery of $40 Million in Gold Bars

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested a former senior Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) official after investigators allegedly discovered more than $40 million worth of gold bars hidden inside his residence.

According to reports from several American media outlets, the suspect identified as David Rush, a former high-ranking government employee with access to classified intelligence operations, was taken into custody following a major federal investigation into alleged fraud, theft of government property, and falsification of official credentials.

Authorities revealed that federal agents recovered approximately 303 one-kilogram gold bars, nearly $2 million in cash, and dozens of luxury watches during a raid carried out at Rush’s home in Virginia and a nearby storage facility.

Court documents cited by investigators claim the former intelligence official used his position to illegally obtain valuable assets meant for official government operations. Prosecutors alleged that between late 2025 and early 2026, Rush repeatedly requested large amounts of gold and foreign currency under the guise of conducting sensitive assignments.

However, investigators later traced the missing assets back to his personal residence.

The FBI stated in an affidavit that there is probable cause to believe Rush knowingly embezzled U.S. government property for personal enrichment.

The case has generated widespread attention across the United States due to the massive value of the recovered assets and the suspect’s former ties to America’s intelligence community.

In addition to the alleged theft, prosecutors accused Rush of falsely claiming military achievements and academic qualifications. Reports indicate he allegedly posed as a former Navy pilot and claimed degrees from prestigious universities in order to strengthen his professional profile within government circles.

Several luxury watches, including high-end Rolex models, were also reportedly seized during the operation.

Major U.S. news organizations including CBS News, ABC News, Associated Press, and Fox News have all confirmed details surrounding the federal investigation.
