Troops of 176 Guards Battalion have arrested a suspected spy found loitering around a restricted area near the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Security sources said the arrest was made at about 4:30 p.m. on May 9, 2026, during a routine foot patrol conducted by troops around the highly restricted zone.
The suspect was reportedly intercepted after being observed moving suspiciously within the vicinity of the secured area.
During a search, troops recovered a wallet containing two ATM cards, receipts, and several passport photographs.
The suspect is currently in military custody and is undergoing further interrogation to determine the motive for his presence in the restricted area.
