In a statement posted on his official X account on Sunday, May 17, 2026, Olayinka suggested that the candidates who emerged victorious, including Martins Amaewhule, were political allies of the FCT minister.
The development followed the disqualification of four individuals believed to be loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara from participating in the APC primaries, a decision that sparked varied reactions within political circles.
Although there has been no confirmed evidence linking Nyesom Wike directly to the victories recorded by Amaewhule and other lawmakers, Olayinka’s comments appeared to suggest that influential political forces may have played a role in the outcome of the elections.
The results of the APC House of Representatives primaries in Rivers State were officially announced by Wahab Owokoniran, who served as the returning officer and is also the Chancellor of the University of Transportation in Daura, Katsina State.
