Yusuf Buhari Wins APC House of Reps Primary in Katsina by Landslide

Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari, son of Nigeria’s late former president, Muhammadu Buhari, has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the House of Representatives seat representing Sandamu/Daura/Maiadua Federal Constituency in Katsina State.

In a decisive outcome, Yusuf Buhari polled a total of 5,849 votes, overwhelmingly defeating his closest rival, Hon. Auwal Lawal Daura, who secured just 21 votes.

The landslide victory has sparked widespread political conversations across Katsina State and beyond, with party supporters—particularly youths—hailing the result as a reflection of Yusuf Buhari’s growing grassroots acceptance and political relevance within the constituency.

Observers note that the margin of victory underscores the enduring political structure and influence associated with the Buhari name in northern Nigeria, especially in Katsina, the home state of the late former president.

Political analysts suggest that Yusuf Buhari’s emergence could signal a generational transition within the Buhari political dynasty, potentially consolidating the family’s foothold in regional politics ahead of future electoral cycles.

If ratified by the party and followed by success at the general election, Yusuf Buhari is poised to make his formal entry into Nigeria’s legislative landscape, marking a significant milestone in his political journey and further shaping the evolving dynamics within the APC.
