The d£ath toll from the cholera outbreak in Borno State has risen to 108, with a cumulative total of 13,234 cases recorded across the state since May 1, 2026, according to a situation report released by the Borno State Ministry of Health and Human Services.
Of the 108 d£aths recorded up to June 18, 71 occurred in health facilities while 37 were community d£aths. The outbreak has spread to 17 of the state’s 27 local government areas.
Maiduguri Metropolitan Council recorded the highest number of cases at 7,083, followed by Jere with 3,403, Konduga with 863, Monguno with 860 and Mafa with 618.
Other affected areas include Bama, Kaga, Gubio, Kwaya Kusar, Biu, Dikwa, Damboa, Ngala, Gwoza, Hawul and Marte.
On June 18 alone, 236 new cases were recorded, with 226 new patients admitted for treatment and 66 discharged after responding to medical care.
