The Ogun State Police Command has dismissed a viral video circulating on social media, clarifying that the footage is not recent but relates to an incident that occurred in 2024.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the video was being deliberately recirculated with misleading captions capable of causing panic among residents.

The Command urged members of the public to disregard the footage and avoid sharing unverified security-related content, warning that the spread of outdated materials could create unnecessary anxiety and undermine ongoing efforts to maintain public safety.
It reassured residents that Ogun State remains safe, peaceful, and secure, adding that security agencies are working diligently to protect lives and property across the state.
The police further encouraged residents to go about their lawful activities without fear and to support security agencies by providing credible information through appropriate channels.
Emergency contacts were also made available, including the Gateway Shield toll-free line and other dedicated response numbers.
The statement reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustaining peace and order while combating the spread of misinformation capable of disrupting public confidence.
