“TikToker Arraigned Over Alleged Cyberbullying Of Mohbad’s Widow” — Court Grants Bail On Strict Conditions

The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a 27-year-old TikToker, Oladimeji Hammed, popularly known as Immunizer, before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over alleged cyberbullying and online harassment of Mrs. Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, widow of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

Hammed was arraigned on a six-count charge bordering on alleged publication of harmful, insulting, abusive and provocative content against the 26-year-old widow on social media.

Police prosecutors told the court that the alleged offences were committed between February 8 and March 14, during which the defendant allegedly used social media platforms to target Omowunmi with posts capable of exposing her to public ridicule, hatred, online trolling and physical threats.

According to the prosecution, the first alleged publication was made on February 8, when Hammed reportedly claimed that Omowunmi was planning to flee Nigeria before justice was served in the investigation into her husband’s death.

The prosecution said the post allegedly included her passport photograph.

The court was further told that on February 11, the defendant allegedly published content suggesting that the widow had failed to deny allegations of infidelity during court proceedings.

On February 19, he allegedly posted material claiming that private content belonging to Mohbad’s widow had been leaked online.

The prosecution also alleged that on March 14, Hammed published a video containing derogatory remarks and accusations against Omowunmi, suggesting that she was involved in a hidden agenda connected with her late husband’s affairs.

The final count alleged that the defendant published nude images and other content intended to humiliate and bully the complainant.

Police prosecutors said the sustained online attacks allegedly contributed to an incident on March 15, when Omowunmi was publicly confronted and nearly physically attacked by members of the public.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

The court admitted him to bail on strict conditions, including two sureties who must each provide evidence of a bank balance of at least ₦700,000.

The court further directed that one of the sureties must be a state civil servant, while the other must be a blood relative of the defendant.

Both sureties are also required to present evidence of up-to-date tax compliance.

Omowunmi has faced persistent online attacks and public scrutiny since the death of her husband on September 12, 2023, although she has not been charged in connection with the singer’s death.

Mohbad’s death sparked nationwide outrage and renewed calls for justice, leading to investigations and criminal proceedings against some persons linked to events preceding his death.

Among those currently standing trial are auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, and the late singer’s associate, Ayobami Sadiq, popularly known as Spending.

Ogedengbe is accused of administering an injection to Mohbad without proper medical authorisation, allegedly leading to complications before his death.

Sadiq is facing charges arising from his alleged role in events preceding the incident.

Both trials are ongoing.

The cyberbullying case against Hammed has been adjourned for further hearing.
