Police in the United Kingdom are urgently searching for a mother after the body of a baby girl was discovered at an industrial waste site in Station Road, Rowley Regis, West Midlands.

West Midlands Police said the infant was found within a waste pile that had been transported by a private waste operator to the site at just before midday.

Authorities believe the baby was unknowingly transported on Wednesday and that the waste operator, which works across the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, and West Mercia areas, is not connected to the d£ath.

Police are working to identify the baby and establish the circumstances surrounding her d£ath, while expressing urgent concern for the welfare of the mother.

Detective Chief Inspector Kylie Westlake said: “While we don’t yet know what has happened, what we do know is that there must be a mother out there who is in real need of help and she is our absolute priority at the moment.”

She added that officers have been reviewing CCTV footage and speaking with hospitals, and appealed directly to the mother or anyone who knows her to come forward, assuring that all information received would be handled sensitively.

“I really want to speak to her to make sure she’s OK, and to ensure that she can get the help that she urgently needs,” she said.

Authorities also urged members of the public to come forward if they know of a mother and baby who have unexpectedly not been seen for a number of days.
