Former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has defended his record in office while speaking to journalists after completing the presidential screening exercise of the African Democratic Congress.
In a video shared by SYMFONI TV, Amaechi said Nigerians should judge all presidential aspirants by the positions they previously held and what they achieved while serving in government. According to him, public officials should be assessed based on their performance and impact on the lives of citizens.
Speaking about his time as governor of Rivers State, Amaechi claimed his administration improved the education sector to the point where many parents moved their children from private schools to government-owned schools because of better standards.
He challenged anyone in doubt to visit Rivers State and confirm the changes, adding that he was willing to sponsor such visits for verification.
Amaechi also highlighted achievements in the health sector during his administration. He said the number of doctors in the state increased from about 200 to 600 after his government employed 400 additional doctors.
The former minister further stated that his administration expanded free healthcare and strengthened primary healthcare centres by ensuring they had doctors and nurses available to attend to patients.
He maintained that leadership should be judged by visible results rather than promises.
In his words, “I was the governor of Rivers State, I built the education to the standard that people were withdrawing their children from private school to government schools, you can go ask, I’m ready to sponsor the people to go to Rivers State and ask….See More
