Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has spoken out strongly against what she describes as a growing social media trend where people only share private messages of others after their death.
The actress made her views known during a podcast conversation, where she expressed concern over individuals who ignore direct messages or pleas for help while a person is alive, only to later post those same messages as emotional content after the person has passed away.
Etinosa said she finds the habit insensitive and unfair, stressing that people should treat others with respect and dignity while they are still alive rather than waiting for tragic moments before showing attention or remorse.
In her remarks, she used a humorous but firm tone to warn against the practice, stating that she would not tolerate anyone posting her unread messages after her death.
Her comment, though lighthearted in delivery, carried a serious message about digital behaviour and online ethics.
She also addressed film industry professionals, particularly producers she had previously reached out to for acting opportunities without receiving any response.
According to her, it would be wrong for such individuals to later publicise her messages or suggest she had begged for roles after she is gone.
The actress explained that many creatives face silent rejection in the industry, where messages are often ignored despite genuine efforts to connect or seek opportunities. She urged people to be mindful of how they handle such interactions both privately and publicly.
Etinosa, who studied Computer Engineering at Covenant University before transitioning into full-time entertainment, highlighted that social media has changed how people process grief and memory. However, she believes some behaviours cross emotional boundaries and should be discouraged.
Her comments have sparked conversations online about digital respect, privacy, and how individuals should handle personal messages after someone’s death.
Many users agreed with her stance, saying it is important to honour people while they are alive rather than creating narratives after they are gone.
The actress continues to remain vocal on social issues within and outside the entertainment industry, often using her platform to address topics related to mental health, career struggles, and online behaviour.
